I would think that if you had a contract in place and were not requesting any changes to the contract, the T&C's would stay the same. If the contract was based on machine serial number, address, OS, etc. and you were requesting a change, then they could do this to you. Sometimes they try to change the name of the product with a new version, but my contracts usually have language to include new versions, etc.
It's pretty hard to amend a contract unless both sides sign on the dotted line.
