Yup everyone of course...

Do you have a license to use a Soapbox? ;-) 8-D :-p

Sorry, let us get serious about this topic.

What if you have a real DR? Then you're truly SOL.

Indeed. We have only a few hours from declaring a 'disaster' up to declare 'all
is running and business as usual'.

Then you get the temp keys, if they can be obtained somehow, install them and
continue IPL.

It really helps that IBM allows you to have fun with any DRP scenarios. Just
make sure IBM knows about it and your CPU # numbers (and quantity of these CPUs
on your DRP toys) and what software you're using and your IFA??? parmlib member
matches the contract.

It can work, but I prefer a way of self-service method. Unfortunately, vendors
don't like such self-service method because of possible theft of keys and
software.

Some vendors like (or is it LOVE?) to use the keys to hijack any upgrades so
they can increase their fees. Tell me, I am still licking my festering and
decaying wounds after we dropped such an expensive vendor (which owns a private
jet for use by their VIP top brass) many years ago.

What is a 800 number? If that is a sort of toll-free number or something like
that, it won't help us here in Sunny South Africa. Timezone (Zulu Time + 2
hours) is one reason such a fancy number will not work for us.

Granted, I don't like to bash vendors, because they also need to have some
(dry) bread and water to live from...

Ok, take your soapbox, I don't need it anymore...
