Comment #37 on issue 526 by [email protected]: Dead keys (^`~ etc) don't
work in XIM programs
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=526
Please find a way to fix this or go around it.
This is a huge problem for a lot of languages (from the top of my head):
French, German, Spanish, Danish, Swedish, Finish, Russian, Welsh and more.
This is a problem as IBus is now the default (instead of SCIM) in Ubuntu
and should support all the languages. I used to be able to do it properly
with SCIM. I'm not a good C programmer so I can't really provide any help
but I'm an experienced linux user and can test whatever you want to test.
I don't exactly understand how all this works and how I'm supposed to use
ibus-xkbc or ibus-m17n. I kind of get the principle of ibus but doesn't
know the details. What I'm trying to say is that I'm just a normal user in
that domain and I consider I should not have to do complex things just to
get French and Chinese to work together (beside choosing Chinese language
support in my ubuntu). Who said lazy ass? Yes I am ::)
I'm in a special situation as a French man living in China, this is a
feature I need to properly keep in touch with friends and relatives (mutt,
irssi, bitlbee). Yes I'm a terminal freak ::)
Let me know if you want more details, any help, discuss the issue, etc.
