I've always figured they designed it's lines without the inboard 
engine.   It slows the boat down to have the back hard edge sitting 
below the waterline, makes turbulence, would be better if it was up an 
inch and the finer round lines drawing to a point were the exit.  But 
add 1000 lbs or so of engine, batteries and fuel to the back of the boat 
and squat happens...
