Boots that people are using everyday and for long distances. Has anyone done any studies on the effects of wearing this type of footware long term?
I have really REALLY wondered about this. I can see riding a barefoot horse if you own a horse who can do distance comfortably barefoot, but I've always wondered how applying a big rubber boot to a horse's front feet could be any better than applying a shoe. I certainly know people who have successfully completed many miles both with shoes and with boots, but I'd love to see know the results of a long term study. Right now I am riding one shod horse (Hunter) and one barefoot (Tosca). My farrier swears she still doesn't need shoes. She's very surefooted with her little bare feet. Nancy
