also, I know someone who took a horse home, I ride with both people so
I hear both sides alllll the time. She got the horse home to try out
and found it has lameness that is almost invisible that shows up only
at the canter. She took the horse back and the owner said the horse
wasnt lame when it left the place and that the other lady owed her for
the horse. The other lady left it there. The owner took it back to
her house and left it in her roundpen when she wasnt home. She called
the police, the police said uhmn, lessee what is the crime exactly,
she GAVE you a horse.... just take it back. She took it back and put
it in the other lady's roundpen. on and on. then the buyer found a
friend who wanted it and GAVE it to her. No money has changed hands
at all and it was a year by this time. The kid showed it and it won
lots of ribbons at halter etc. The owner said see, the horse is
perfect you owe me money to the original buyer, who asked the new
person to keep the horse and pay for it, she said she had no money.
The owner called the police, they go over there, the kid is blubbering
and sobbing and hanging around the horse's neck while her mother leads
it to the owners trailer. So the owner has like a breakdown and starts
screeching and flipping out yelling TAKE IT TAKE IT and clatters off
down the road in her trailer. Now the kid is afraid she'll come back
for the horse. Everybody in town is so sick of hearing it...
sigh.
