My initial instinct was "hell no, I go to cons to experience a variety of
games!" but then I remembered that that experience is at best hit-and-miss.
Devoting the weekend to one focussed event, with players that are equally
committed to the long haul and a GM who's well-prepared and knows the
material well (unfortunately a rare enough thing to be a solid selling
point) could be plenty of fun, with the added benefit of creating a truly
memorable experience, something you walk away from and remember for years
that weekend at Xcon where you explored and grew a character, shaped a plot
and achieved something really worthwhile.

It'd be a hard sell though. The Trilogy this year had two players sign up
for it and the committee decided not to run it (although I was quite ready
to run six characters all by myself if necessary). Commitment is a scary
thing, I guess - even having thought it through and come to realise the
value of the suggestion, I'd still find myself shying away from it.

By the way, are you thinking pre-generated characters, or running creation
as part of the campaign?
