Devoting the weekend to one focussed event, with players that are equally committed to the long haul and a GM who's well-prepared and knows the material well (unfortunately a rare enough thing to be a solid selling point) could be plenty of fun, with the added benefit of creating a truly memorable experience, something you walk away from and remember for years that weekend at Xcon where you explored and grew a character, shaped a plot and achieved something really worthwhile. It'd be a hard sell though. The Trilogy this year had two players sign up for it and the committee decided not to run it (although I was quite ready to run six characters all by myself if necessary). Commitment is a scary thing, I guess - even having thought it through and come to realise the value of the suggestion, I'd still find myself shying away from it. By the way, are you thinking pre-generated characters, or running creation as part of the campaign?
