So, what is the final verdict? The status quo is unacceptable. Are we going to post a public plea for financing bigger hard-disks (or alterantively a new computer) on Linux-IL? Are we going to try to address some other potential financors in private?
I say we go with posting the notice on Linux-IL and see what happens. There's only this amount of time that Ligad and HP can ignore our needs, and they are way past it. I don't think we should defame them or anything, just do enough to find someone who is willing to sponsor us, so either they decide which one of them does, or we take the other entity's offer. Given my past record, I'd rather Shachar did it instead of me. (unless of course, I phrase the letter, you guys review it and accept it in its final form, and I or whoever post it). Here is a draft, just to get going: <<< The iglu.org.il administration team, that is officially represnted by Hamakor - the Israeli Society for Free Software and Open Source Code (http://www.hamakor.org.il/), hereby makes a plea for bigger hard-disks for its server. We require 4 RAID Ultra-Wide SCSI hard-disks of size 70 GB [or bigger?]. The disks will be used to mirror more content for faster access from Israel and provide space for Israeli-oriented software and distributions. This is also a pre-requisite for upgrading the server to a newer distribution. (which is desperately needed because our current one is a few years old). If you wish to donate or participate in the donation of this equipment, please contact us by E-mail or send an E-mail to the list. Best regards, The IGLU.org.il Administrators >>> Regards, Shlomi Fish ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Shlomi Fish [EMAIL PROTECTED] Home Page: http://t2.technion.ac.il/~shlomif/ Writing a BitKeeper replacement is probably easier at this point than getting its license changed.
