Well, a mailing list is not an issue - I can easily create one with ezmlm. If
setting up a forum means setting PHP-BB or something similar, than it's not
an issue as well, because I've done it before. Bugzilla does not seem to be
too intimidating either.
In any case, I think the most critical thing here is the version control
system. Sites like SourceForge, BerliOS or Savannah can easily give hosting
to mailing lists, forums, a web site, a bug-tracker (not bugzilla
unfortunately, but still better than nothing), etc.

I'd rather start with hosting some Subversion repositories and then see where
we go on from there. Let's kill one cow at a time.

It's true that we cannot backup the projects. However, we can store the
repositories' dumps somewhere, so people can backup them themselves. (using
rsync or HTTP or whatever). I will host most small to medium sized projects.
I don't expect eskimo to be adequate for something like the GIMP... ;-)

FreeDOS may be stable and usable, but I don't think it's in the interest of
the general public. DOS, nowadays, is mostly used for things like embedded
software, or hardware testing, and for running legacy applications. Very few
people will use it for their desktop system. Besides, it's probably not such
a big download.

Right.

We already have 70 GB total in the RAID arrays. And we don't have a place to
install more. We need new disks, and God knows that this tight space
management is not good for our peace of mind. It isn't "spamming": it's
perfectly relevant to the needs of the Israeli community.
