Hi all, Here are my non educated and random thoughts:
1) Making a CVS/SVN/whatever server is not enough. Each project needs also a bugzilla, and a ML or a forum. We need to host also a small site for each project, which will have multiple downloads. This setup is not as trivial as you think. Will you be able to support this for the next year or 2? 2) The size problem is much bigger then you think. What kind of proejcts will you host? Maybe someone will come with a new php/nuke localized version ? with patches and versions, and downloadable versions, it will take much more then you think. We cannot backup the projects, which is another problem. 3) FreeSBIE? sux ass... come one... get a knoppix/kazix/pclinuxos... the FreeBSD lives sux... and it's just because of HW detection. I heard that from a FBSD packager, so I tend to beleave it. Mirroring Kazix or MiniKazit is better IMHO. How abuout FreeDOS? it's stable and usable. ReactOS is installable under QEMU, but not really usable. Tested it a few months ago, and it's a shiny toy, nothing more. 4) A contrib mirror for Mandrake is a good idea, since we have all other MDK content in IGLU. This is the only piece missing (maybe cooker). 5) Please think about the future. Spamming IGLU/LINUX-IL/WhatsUp with messages saying "we need a new HD please... it's for your own good..." is not a good publicity. We still have a lot free space, and when we ran out of it, we can afoard buying a new one. They are not that expensive (you can get a 80GB for 600nis if you get a bad deal). ביום שני, 13 בספטמבר 2004, 00:31, נכתב על ידי Shlomi Fish: ... -- diego, kde-il translation team Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments.
