People,
i was amazed to find that some ( all ?? ) nationalised bank's ,
most PSU's including
the large one i work in are buying PCs with preinstalled Linux / DOS from
major national
vendors and installing Windoze+MSOffice on them after installation in
location . This
brings down the costs greatly . In fact it's the people from the vendors
/AMC who are
suggesting and doing the installation in situ .When I pointed out that this
is piracy the management is adamant about their "right" to use Windoze in
this way .... " everybody does it " they say .
Most don't have any idea that the software has to be purchased . They
have some
foggy idea that linux is "user-unfriendly" and don't want to use/learn it
anyway .
This is a very unfortunate trend ... and government owned bodies
indulging in this
practise shamelessly .... . I don't know why people would move to FLOSS if
this continues
with such impunity .
I am not saying this from guessing .... i am observing specific
PC's in my office (LIC)
Bank(Cenrtal Bank of India) , Shopping Malls (INOX) , Other Shops etc .
