You are right, this had worked while setting up local wiki and wordpress using
XAMPP.
If you were comfortable with XAMPP, then go for LAMPP from the
apachefriends.org team. But they don't recommend using it for use as a
server :) Its just for testing purposes and have limitations.

Glad to know it works, unfortunately i found those packages missing today
