I don't think blaming syllabus has any use. It is about interest of the students in learning things and the way things are thought. If student is not interested in engineering there is no use in having a good syllabus. > TO SAY A REAL FACT.. > > my friend brother is studying in VELTECH they got campus interview.. the > first question TCS HR asked is ANY ONE CERTIFIED IN SERVER ADMINISTRATION > EITHER WINDOWS OR LINUX ARE SPOT SELECTED TO PROJECT .. If anyone is certified in server admin they are spot selecting? So just having a certificate matters more than have a skill / knowledge. This is the sorry state of Indian IT services companies :(. I understand what you want to explain but looks like your example went wrong. I met a couple of RHEL certified system administrators. They had a laptop with RHEL (sad thing is it is a pirated copy), track pad was not working in that. And both of them had no idea of what went wrong or where to look. Looked like they did not even spend some in searching the internet for solution. I feel this is the mindset of a common engineering graduate towards learning. Part of the problem is in the system and rest is with society and student. May be if china catches up in software then Indian software companies will be in a difficult state. If that happens things will change. There will be chaos and difficulty for a few time but things will settle and become better hopefully.
