My feelings exactly. Informationless articles. Sounds like
politicions wrote it.

 I have always heard that all electrical appliances such as
radios and tvs and the like should be left on. The heating
and cooling process eventually cracks something if it goes
on and off too often. IMacs run hot too. 

On the other hand, turning it off defragments the HD, so it
needs to be done once in a while to keep things smooth.
Maybe just off a few seconds, not long enough to cool down
is the right way to do it.
