The first thing I would do would be to update to system 8.6, which is a free
download/update from the Apple Web site somewhere (unless they've taken it
down). It's my understanding that 8.6 was a lot more stable than 8.5.*.

Other than that, did the same problem happen when the RAM was taken out? It
could be bad RAM, no matter what TTP says...
