Larry, Two possible ways around the problem:
1. These days, most web browsers (and FTP clients?) can resume interrupted downloads when you re-connect to the site. 2. Are you doing an automatic update where several files get downloaded with one click? If so, try doing it "manually", i. e. download each one separately. Or, if it is one big file, is it available in "segments"? (OS 8.6 was a 2-1/2 hour download but was also available in 12 parts, which was how I had to download it because I was getting disconnected in the middle and at that time the browser was not capable of resuming an interrupted download.)
