Bottom posting has been the norm on every list I've ever been on. It just 
makes sense and is the original standard. Quote what you're replying to, 
then reply to it. Like dialogue. Like a play. Like a conversation.

Replying and then quoting gets it bass ackwards.

And replying without trimming is simply rude. Every mailing list I've 
ever been on actively encourages trimming the bits you quote to leave 
only what is essential.

And thanks to the long-standing convention of > before quoted material, 
it should be easy to skip right past the quoted portions if you don't 
want to read them or refresh your memory. Many email clients even color 
code quoted matter to make it easier to follow when there are multiple 
levels of quotation.
