Hello.

I have an indigo iMac DV with a 400mhz processor. I've had it for two years.
It's a nice little machine.

The problem: My girlfriend and I just got DSL. It works great. The DSL
router (modem) is hooked to my iMac via Ethernet. The DSL router also is
hooked to my girlfriend's Dell 2100 Dimension via a USB cable and port.

However, her web pages load considerably faster than the pages on my iMac. I
was wondering what I could do to speed up my internet web page downloads.

Some info on my iMac: It has 576 MB of RAM and a 10 GB hard drive. I am
using System Version OS 9.0.4. The hard drive has only 2.5 GB of space left.
Does that make a difference? Her Dell has a 1.2 Gigahertz processor with 256
MB of RAM. She uses Windows XP.

So, is there anything I can do to increase the speed of my internet
downloads, in particular, the speed at which web pages (like eBay) appear on
my screen? It seems to me we're both using the same broadband signal. It's
what her computer is doing with it that makes it faster. We both use
Internet Explorer (the latest versions we can with the operating systems we
run).

Thank you for any advice/help you can offer.

Neil

P.S. Would increasing the memory disk cache in my control panels help? If
so, what would I set it to? Thanks again.
