That doesn't change the fact that the dynamic still applies. Other members here have clearly stated that they DON'T read messages that are not in bottom posted format. Of course, I do NOT agree with this philosophy, at least as it applies to E-mail. I read ALL messages in my field of interest. Which brings me to your second point: > Get over yourself. If you won't read a message based on its formatting, > maybe you shouldn't think of yourself as helping Mac newbies. The above was my FIRST major contribution to this thread. I did NOT say that I would not read top postings. I only said I agree bottom/interleaved posting is the proper way. The screenplay thing was only an example of how one's message can fail to get across due to "minor" things like formatting, as is the case here. So do NOT go telling me to "get over myself." If you were a member of one of my lists, I would have considered that borderline flaming and would have warned you accordingly, as you are obviously implying arrogance on my part. If you don't agree with me, fine, but personal attacks, even of the mildest kind, are uncalled for and accomplish nothing but to antagonize the target party. Take it from one who knows. I participated in a flame war once and got burned. I won't make that mistake again. Have some respect for your fellow list members. Believe me, it'll save you a lot of grief in the long run. John A.
