I would imagine there are.  Discussion lists exclusive to, say, the 
employees of a large company where everyone is discussing company 
business.  It'd certainly save time on meetings for anything which the 
whole company needs to discuss.

However, although the existence of such lists seems logical, I've never 
actually heard of one before.
