I'm not familiar with the Fastnet or Farallon adapters you are talking
about, are they LocalTalk to Ethernet converters?

If so, you might need to use a crossover Ethernet cable, instead of a
straight through cable, between the LocalTalk to Ethernet Converter box you
are using.

If you don't have a crossover cable, you could go from the iMac to a hub
(with straight through Ethernet cable) then from the hub to your LocalTalk
bridge device (again with another straight through cable.

A crossover cable is a special Ethernet cable that has some of the wires
switched around, for connecting two computers directly together without a
hub in between.

It is going to be SLOW if you do get it to work. To get them connected
together at a higher speed you could get a Comm Slot Ethernet card for your
6400.

I paid a pretty penny for the 10/100 Comm Slot II card in my 6400, but I
think that a 10-only card should be much cheaper.

Someone smarter chime in here if I'm wrong, but I think that you can also
use a Comm Slot I Ethernet card in a Comm Slot II Mac? (But not the other
way around of course.)
