Yes, but performance would be much improved if you were to double or
better the RAM. For that model I would recommend you toss the 64MB chip
and add at least a 256MB module, if not a 512MB.

Contrary to myth, you can have OS X and 9.2.2 on that six gig drive --
but be aware that space will be VERY tight. No downloading videos,
large iTunes libraries, or video editing for you! :)

By the time you can afford it, the minimum will probably be 40 gig.
Twenty gig drives are getting scarce. But by then the price will have
come down as well. :)

An admirable backup habit, to be sure, but I can't help but think you
are losing an awful lot of productivity by constantly having to look up
and read from the much slower CD-Rs. A larger hard drive would be a big
efficiency boost, and with your already-developed discipline I should
think backups wouldn't be a problem.

I'd say you can take the OS X plunge now, though if things are working
fine for you at the moment you might want to wait till you can further
update the HD and RAM -- it will make for a smoother experience, since
you will be installing OS X and 9 "fresh" on a new drive, always a good
idea.

The only other "tip" I can recommend is to stay subscribed. Like the
old saying about Grand Central Station, if you stand here long enough
you'll see everything you might need to know about OS X pass by. :)
