They have a lot of those "Computer Show And Sale" thingees around here, so I *should* be able to find a used one cheap enough.

True, but the speed is just fine from a CD-R - only a slight delay if it has to spin up, at least on this machine. Not a problem at all with audio files. One nice thing about iTunes is it tells me which disc the song is on so I don't have to remember where I'd put it. On the other hand, it does get to be a pain swapping CDs all the time. > >> So what do you think? I think I'll go ahead and install it tonight. I've already backed up all the important stuff anyway to make room. I'm just trying to get an idea what to expect with OS X and get familiar with it before I put in a new hard drive and more RAM - to make sure it will be worth spending the money on. I have a feeling though that I'll probably have to continue to boot in OS 9 most of the time anyway, for now, as I don't have many OS X programs yet. Thanks Charles, and everyone for your input. Gerry P.S. I still have my old PowerMac 7600 set up in case anything goes wrong! -G -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
