BACKUPS ARE IMPORTANT. Not doing them can cost you big time (not just $$ but time). > When I got the iMac back it now has OS 9.2 (previously was 9.0) I > understand this is a good thing? Yes. You should update that to 9.2.2 by using the Software Update control panel. > On my desktop I have a folder entitled > Back Up the window of which is seems identical to my prevous HD > window. By that time, everything you need from the old HD will be copied over into your new one. At that point you can safely dispose of the old one. > Also there are two folders: Damaged Items which contains a document > from > something called Disk Warrior and a couple of other WP documents of my > own > making pre crash. It costs $70 and will save you having to pay that $200 you forked over to the tech. You can buy it from any retail Apple store or from Alsoft direct at www.alsoft.com. If I had to pick ONE third-party utility for Mac owners to have, it would be DiskWarrior/PlusOptimiser. 2. Damaged items should be tossed. There's little hope of you repairing them. If you think the data on those wp files is absolutely vital, you can try opening them and (if successful) copy and paste the text into a new document. But after that, trash em. 3. That third batch of stuff you describe is mostly system stuff which you now no longer need. I would toss em. _Chas_ Come to ...
