I've only been alive since 1972 so we are pretty even
in our American - ness :-)  This practice has always
been distasteful, but it's hardly new. It would be
great for those without the needed funds to jump to
the head of the line, if companies stopped the
practice, but those in business to make money will do
so almost anyway they can ... perhaps if less
consumers took that option it would be less of an
issue...??
