Donald,

A refurb purchased from a reseller may indeed be factory-
refurbished. I also bought a refurb (iMac Summer 2001) from Small
Dog. It was advertised as factory-refurb and the shipping box has
printed (not rubber-stamped or labeled) on it "Apple Computer, Inc.
Reconditioned Product".

It was treated as new by Apple for purposes of original warranty,
support, and eligibility to purchase AppleCare.
