I am in the process of upgrading the memory in my friend's Rev C slot-loading Imac. I installed 256M each in the upper and lower slots, in the proper physical size. Had a hard time, but think I got everything put back together right. I was careful to order and wear the static strap.
But now...
The machine does not start. No chime but a short tone. I can hear the disk spinning a bit and the fan. No activity at all on the monitor. Opened it and checked that everything was firmly seated.
Did I fry my friend's Mac?
