It seems that the problem here is that half of you are talking about swapping the motherboard (the big one), and half of you are talking about swapping the daughtercard (the small one, with the processor and RAM on it.)
So, I KNOW I've seen posts from people who have successfully swapped the daughtercards, putting 233 Mhz cards into 333s or 266s and the other way around, but has anyone swapped the motherboards between different revisions of iMacs?
John, thanks for the clarification. This is why terminology is so important. Apple calls the main board the "Logic Board", and the small card with the CPU the "processor card" (from their service manual).
I need to know if I can replace the Rev A. LOGIC BOARD with a Rev. B, 266MHz, or 333MHz LOGIC BOARD, then continue to use my working 233MHz processor card. I understand people have swapped processor cards, but has anyone replaced logic board with one of these newer versions?
IIRC, the Rev A & B came with a 233 MHz board, the Rev C with 266 MHz, and the Rev C with 333 MHz. So what you really seem to be asking is whether or not you can use Rev C/D logic boards in Rev A/B machines. (My Rev B had 233 MHz until I replaced it with a HARMONi.) I THINK this has been answered before in the negative, but I could be mistaken. Check the archives.
