Anyway, I've been trying to fax using the OS X fax program. The instructions say that to get a phone number to show up in the fax phone list (in the print dialog box) , you need to put the number in the address book and label it as either a work or home fax number,
I've done that and the phone number doesn't show up. I tried changing it from work to home and back again. I tried adding the area code (it's a local number and doesn't need one), I tried deleting the entry and making a new one. I tried rebooting. Nothing works.
What am I doing wrong? What should I have tried that I didn't think of?

Did you quit the fax program while changing the Address Book? Is the fax program (is it still FaxStf?) showing up in Print Center as an option, you might have to add it there? When I choose the fax printer from the print dialog box, I get a message that no recipients were selected and it gets saved as a draft. Then I open Faxstf and choose the send now option. My address book then opens automatically to everyone that actually has a fax number entered and I can choose the destination.
I don't think faxing is quite what it should be, from what I've read Panther will have it built into the OS.
