The release of iTunes for Windows has left me a little confused. I don't use the iTMS (stuck with a 56k line), but I keep seeing reviews that mention that iTMS sells songs only in a proprietary format usable by only the iPod and iTunes.Actually it still works fine with 56k dial up for individual songs. Not satisfactory for an album.
You're correct, but the windooze centric media likes the phrase "Proprietary Apple format". In fact it is part of MP4 developed by Dolby.
I was under the impression that iTMS sells songs compressed with AAC, which is part of the MPEG-4 standard. Am I wrong?
