>> And given all the evidence that Windows sucks, Macs are still has a >> significantly small share of the computer users around the world. >> >> Why is that? >> >> 1) They're significantly more expensive. Tell me the last time you were >> able to buy a brand new Mac for $400. You can't buy a new PC for $400 either. If you do it is junk and youwill spend another $400 making it work right. Dollar for Dollar Apples are right in line with PC's. GO to dells website and configure a PC to match a G4, iMac or a G5 and look at the cost. >> 2) You can't just go out, buy new parts and easily replace them. It is >> a >> very expensive thing if it is possible. Most repair shops (CompUSA for example) have Apple certified technicians and Apple repair parts on hand. Failing that you can order online and fix it your self. >> 3) There's not a lot of software available for the Mac. That is the weakest argument of all. There are over 25,000 software titles for the Mac. That is a comment based in ignorance. On top of that, lots of the software that is used on a PC was developed on a Mac. >> 4) Windows may suck but a huge percentage of the users are businesses >> who can't afford to throw it all away to buy more expensive computers >> that won't work with their systems. That is because they have already fallen prey to Microsoft's brilliant marketing. >> Like I have said, I love Macs and have since I first started using >> computers about 20 years ago. You can also inform them that without Apple the PC's platform would be pretty boring. After all, Apple was the first company to: Ship a personal computer with a mouse Ship a personal computer with a color screen Ship a personal computer with a floppy drive Ship a personal computer with a CD drive Ship a personal computer without a floppy drive Ship a laptop Ship a personal computer with built in networking capabilities Ship a personal computer with a 64-bit processor Ship a personal computer with a GUI Apple invented Firewire Apple invented the trackpad (which is now a laptop standard) Apple also invented True Type fonts which are used in all PC's. The real name is Apple True Type, but PC users would probably freak if they knew that all the fonts they use were made by Apple. Lots of programs that are PC standards like Excel were made for the Mac first. Same with Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, etc etc etc blah blah blah. Tell your PC gaming friends that they latest cool game Halo was made by Bungie for the Mac. They'll drop a brick. -- Kyle H.
