Let's talk about PCs then. I have a 2 year old Compaq running at 1.2 GHz. I also
have a 400 mHz iMac, which either runs better or as well in pretty much every aspect.
When I bought my PC, the warranty and the extended warranty were voided just because I
added an internal zip drive. I'm on my 3rd $100+ video card on the thing because the
previous two blew out, and they weren't supported either even though I had only bought
them weeks before. The modem is acting wierd, and I expect it to die anytime now. I
tried upgrading from windows ME to windows 2000 pro a couple times now, but the newer
OS doesn't have the necessary drivers to allow me even to use the USB port on my
computer. I've had to completely wipe everything from it at least 6 times now since I
bought it 2 years ago and start from scratch because the windows system is too
unstable. It's constantly crashing or freezing.
I paid $800 for it, before I bought the useless extended warranty. I've never
recieved any support for it because Compaq, the place I bought it from, no one gives a
dam.
As long as we're talking about support, take my Dad's Powerbook 5300 CS. This
computer was bought nearly 10 years ago, and just last month I sent it in and had it
completely refurbished by apple for free because they still hadn't abandoned it. I've
never had any problem getting support for a mac. All in all, I've put around $2000,
counting the buying it into this PC and it still isn't satisfactory. When you Buy a
PC you're not buying a working, ready to go computer, you have to go out and get more
and more stuff for it to work right. I'd say that dollar for dollar, Macs are a much
better buy than PCs.
