Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have repaired permissions using the OS X
install disk and have created a test user. Same problem.


Also used Disk Warrior 3.

I think it's clear from all you have reported that the problem is NOT with the hard drive or even the OS.


It's starting to sound to me like a bad video card or possibly a bad motherboard. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but my suggestion would be to backup your data and take the machine in to a authorised tech.
