What in the world are you talking about when you say "launch Safari or other web broswer, go to..."? AOL has a built in browser. When you click on the AOL icon, you have automatically launced whatever current browser is part of their software. {At this point in time, it seems to be Netscape Gecko for Mac OS X.} There is nothing convoluted. There is no need to launch another browser. You could if you wanted. You could launch as many browsers as you can load on your machine, But there is no reason to use any other software other than the AOL software. Like I have said, it takes less than 15 seconds to get to the mailbox that sends out plain text emails.

No, Paula, what AOL has is a want-to-be browser. BTDTGT. Besides even I, an AOL Charter Member, know that AOL is not a real ISP, and if you are serious about web browsing, you use Safari, OmniWeb, Mozilla, Camino, Navigator, or even the discontinued Internet Explorer. The bottom line is that AOL, as usual, insists on not conforming to the plain text only for email convention. Yes, I know that MS Outlook does the same, but there you have a CHOICE to turn MIME on or off. Actually, there is a "choice" for AOL too, for MIME use AOL 10.3, for plain text use AOL 5.x or jump through the hoops you do to to use webmail.
