erasing/formatting cd-rw's

I tried to delete photos from a cd-rw, which i haven't used before, and 
a message
tells me that the disc cannot be modified.

I thought it would be easy: select the disc, go to menu, find format or 
erase, select and bingo!!

So.  How does one go about erasing/formatting a cd-rw which has had 
photos burned onto it??

Well, I'll tell you how to access it, and then I'll recommend
that if the Epson Utilities don't work that you go to
http://www.ink4art.com and look into their "Deadhead" cleaning
cartridges. They have worked wonders for me.
