My iPod (the original) holds 5GB. Downloading that over USB 1.1 will take something over an hour. The 20GB one will take five hours. If that's the machine she has to work with, then that's what she has--I just wanted you to realize we might be talking kind of perceptibly slow. I think Firewire is around 8 times faster than USB 1.1 (though slower than USB 2).

Now if it's a USB 2 to Firewire thing, maybe it runs faster....
It wasn't clear from the link I saw just how it worked.
