Since it's not heavily used for travel, will the iBook be enough??

Those clamshells can still carry out WiFi duties, so they are technically road worthy.

Is the screen too small for your application needs on the road? Is the storage capacity still ok for your needs? Does lack of FireWire matter for transferring data? Is it too heavy? Or does that funky handle add any value for toting when it's not in a laptop carry bag?

Those are questions I'd ask myself. I'm all for the retro 1990's design of those early iBooks and if it's still works, you might want to invest your money in some other Apple hardware.

Of course, if you need to project a certain business image, a sleek new Aluminum PB can't be beat. The clamshell's design is still a head turner, but maybe not in certain circles. Not to sound shallow, but for some, the "image" issue is important.

As indecision ridden as the pre-purchase period can be, there's some fun in exploring and daydreaming about which will be your next Mac!

Good luck,

Donald
