Thanks for that. I had forgotten how it all works. Yeah DivX is a codec. I
have a few .avi files so I open the DivX application and that converts the
.AVI file into something that can be recognised by Quicktime (in my case
Quicktime 6, but I don't think it matters which version of Quicktime you
have). Then when I double click on that converted file it opens and plays in
Quicktime. So its like adding a little extra functionality to your Quicktime
program. 

That's the best way to describe it, right?
