Hi all, My daughter forgot her password because she didn't use her Mac for a few months
and I don't know what to tell her. Any way to find it?
There's a way to reset it: start up from the OS X Install disc, and when the Install application appears, choose Reset Password from the Install menu. Choose the appropriate hard drive and account, enter and confirm new password, quit and restart.
I called her in california & she doesn't know where they are. Is there any other way?
One slender hope is that she -- or whoever set up the account -- entered a password hint. If so, it will be displayed after three wrong passwords are entered. That might jog her memory.
Otherwise, I'd go with what Al Poulin says: tell her to hunt for the system disc, or borrow one from a kind soul.
Miche.
