If you mean by your reply to my statement, then you are correct.... your
reply is an ignorant statement :-)

In OS 9 and prior, you had extensions, they caused conflicts and
crashes... in OS X, you have Kernel Extensions... they cause conflicts
and crashes... humm. Only now, rather than calling it an Extension
Conflict, it is called a Kernel Panic. That is FACT buddy (since I assume
you to be an apple developer, you should know that).

Ok, so you admit, Kernel Panics happen.

You are one up on me... I've been running OS X since before Public Beta
as well (my first attempt at OS X was the original build for Intel, back
when it was more NeXTStep then Mac OS). I admit I don't run the betas
very often, mostly because I lack machines I can afford to take out of
production use (and I try really hard not to run anything beta on a
production machine unless I have no choice, that goes for OS as well as
software... alas, with software, often there isn't a choice). I've seen
exactly ZERO Kernel Panics in all my use of OS X. It just doesn't seem to
happen.

But, it CAN if you load it up with Kernel Extensions of all sorts. I just
don't happen to do that. Others do, and it never Panics for them either,
and still others do and it does Panic... there are also people that don't
load Extensions and get Panics (although I seriously wonder why they get
them, and I take it with a grain of salt that they don't load anything...
I think they may just not realize they are, for instance, the Palm
Desktop software loads Kernel Extensions, as does the Kensington Mouse
software... neither are very clear that they do it).

>Under OS 9, I would get HARD FREEZES and APP CRASHES and EXT
>CONFLICTS or NO PRINT or just WEIRD STUFF HAPPENING about three to
>four times a week.

When did I ever say that OS X has panics as often as OS 9 crashes? In
fact, if you read some of my other posts in these threads, I believe I've
pointed out just the opposite (I recall specifying in my "Why do you use
Classic" post that my OS 9 machine goes down about once a week, and I
can't recall the last time my OS X machine went down).

>If you can't see the difference there, I pity you.

If you can't read and reply based on the information provided without
jumping to arrogant conclusions... I pity you.

Chas... I've been reading these posts with great interest... there don't
seem to be many people that share your point of view... I am one that
DOES share it. And here you go being a dick to me?!? You should watch a
little closer at who your allies are unless you LIKE pissing off
everyone... I enjoy it, so you might as well. ;-p

Now, lets stop fighting amongst ourselves, and get back to teaming up on
bashing the Apple/Intel Nay-Sayers!! :-)
