I'm not surprised, I expect this. I don't use straight OS9, though I
have used Classic some in my earlier iMac days, when I had to. I moved
to Mac because of OSX. The iMac does run OSX, but it shouldn't. OSX
requires more power. I grumbled a lot about OSX on the iMac, but after
I got the PowerMac, and a 19" monitor, I started to understand what OSX
is all about. It requires screen real estate, at least a dual 733 or
so, 1 GB of memory (I'm thinking about going up to 2), and of course a
decent graphics card. It's not a minimalist system like the Amiga or
OS9. If you don't have a setup like this, use OS9. I didn't use it
enough to miss it. Classic has never run on this PM.
I am extremely pleased with my move to Mac, mainly because of OSX.
It's rock solid and has enormous capacity for handling multitasking and
multi-environments, but only if you have the equipment. I plan to
replace the iMac soon with another dual G4. Nice machines. G5 doesn't
excite me (runs too hot), nor does Intel, although I think that Apple
made a good move here. Not everyone is content with G4s ;^)
