What will I see and what will my machine do when its PRAM battery goes (or has gone) bad?
First symptom is usually that the clock looses a lot of time while the computer is shutdown, or reverts to time 0. In the classic Mac OS that's 17 Nov 1858. In Mac OS X it's 1 Jan 1970.
Then, as the battery weakens more, some PRAM settings get lost - which port AppleTalk is using, which system to boot from, etc.
Then eventually, your Mac will be unable to boot at all or it may take several presses of the boot button. It won't even bong.
...I always thought Apple should put a sensor on that battery socket. Then when the battery gets low, the OS could notify you by singing "Daisy" slower and slower...
