I always thought the viewing angle is limited in the vertical plane,
especially if you're below the horizontal.  My iMac is set up on an old
computer table with a raised platform for a monitor.  I've tilted the iMac
as far down as it'll go and if I sit up straight, I'll look at the screen
straight on.  Of course nobody sits up straight so I'm viewing from a
slightly downward angle so the screen looks a little darker than normal.

Though most people will probably be placing their machines directly on the
desktop so this probably won't be much of an issue.
