For my part, my users have reported blank-bodied emails sent from BB devices in a variety of scenarios: as one of many responses in a string of emails going back and forth for an hour (the rest came through fine), as forwards, as replies, with attachments, and without. There doesn't appear to be any pattern to it, except that it happens when sent from BB devices.

We are using 8.21. Outlook 2003 is the most common client. I have tried to duplicate it using my Thunderbird, but so far the 4 or 5 messages I have been sent have all come through. These are all emails sent to our users from our customers using BB. As far as I know, no one at our company uses BB to get email - they just have problems receiving the bodies of some that are sent from them. The few log entries I have looked up appeared normal.

hi all,

sounds like some mixed stories on the blackberry front.

joe, just curious but what are you using for your mail client on your
blackberry and what version of imail? are you forwarding to your bb or
popping directly to imail?

bye for now,

We use Blackberry's (7250) exclusively with our sales department. Knock on
wood we haven't had a problem yet.

No special setup needed at least none that I have done.

I've tried troubleshooting it, but often enough, the messages come
through. It's very odd. I can't isolate if it's a client issue, a
Blackberry issue, an Imail issue.

It's not uncommon, however.

Hi,

My boss has a blackberry and all mail:
1) Is completely base64, even if it's plain text
2) Has a plain text signature ending normally defined at the provider
website
3) Has a few extra bytes with random chars *after* the signature

Don't know if that is because of an error at the provider (Vodafone NL) or
a
blackberry problem. Nor wheter it has any relation to your problem. But
maybe it get you thinking in the right direction.

Groetjes,

Bonno Bloksma

Does anyone have any insight into this Blackberry issue. To recap:
bodies
are stripped from any message sent from a Blackberry device UNLESS that
message has an attachment (then the body is displayed correctly). Below
is a log snippet of an email with no attachment. It appears OK to me.
Thanks.

Here is the log snippet. I don't have the actual email file at this
point, but I will have the user who received the blank email send it to
me. I did read at the Ipswitch online forums about someone who had the
same problem (they said that it happened with any email *without* an
attachment for some odd reason), but no one had responded to him.
Here's
the log. Any help would be appreciated.

As much information as possible...
Logs and the mail itself would be helpful...
