Archie,
If you are in eval mode, I suppose your srvr is pretty quiet, or at least
you can quieten it to debug this pb.
Since the manual kick works, it wouldn' seem to be a DNS pb.
Since you have nothign in the "send thru gateway" fields, outgoing isn't
hung there.
About all I can think of is to "quieten" the server so no mail in queue and
nobody sending but yourself (also stop logging by POP3 or other processes,
then turn on SMTP debugging and send one msg and go look in sys0807.txt
file and see what the debug info says. The weakness in debugging is that
the debug lines are not stamped with date/time/pid so if you have a lot
going on, it's impossible to correlate debug lines with a given process.
The quieten idea is to have just one SMTP client process running alone with
debug and see what that logs.
