Ok, I disabled access control for Winsock and it works like a champ. My
problem is I really don't want to leave this disabled. The user I used with
credtool is granted unlimited access for Winsock. I'm confused as to why
this doesn't work. Is my syntax correct with credtool?
I used the following from the mspclnt dir and set up a wspcfg.ini file in
\IMail dir:
credtool -w -n POP3D32 -c User Domain Password
credtool -w -n SMTPD32 -c User Domain Password
where user is an admin and domain is the NT domain. This is what the
wspcfg.ini file looks like:
[SMTPD32]
ProxyBindIP=25:63.xxx.xxx.xxx
ServerBindTcpPorts=25
Persistent=1
KillOldSession=1
ForceCredentials=1
[POP3D32]
ProxyBindIP=110:63.xxx.xxx.xxx
ServerBindTcpPorts=110
Persistent=1
KillOldSession=1
ForceCredentials=1

If your Imail server is 'server hosted' behind MS Proxy 2.0 you will be
using the Winsock proxy client on the mail server, and a wspcfg.ini file in
the \imail directory? If so the imail server should have no default gateway
in its tcp/ip settings, but should have DNS. I would make sure that access
control is turned off for the Winsock proxy service - because this is the
service that smtpd32.exe will use to remotely bind port 25 to the external
Ip of the Proxy serve...I am guessing that if your Imail server is server
hosted in this manner then the reason why you can send 'manually' is because
you are authenticated again the Winsock service as the user you are logged
onto the Imail machine as, but when 'automatic' mail transfer takes place
their is no authorised user to authenticate with the Winsock proxy service
therefore mail sending fails...There is a way of using credtool that comes
with ms p and some changes to the smtpd32.exe service so it starts as a user
with access rights on the Winsock proxy service, but this can get rather
complicated. Turn off Winsock proxy service access control, stop and start
the Winsock service and then stop and start the Imail stmp service and see
if this sorts it...
