in answer to your funny story: the guy teaching me early on was a senior
engineer at b'haven lab. he told me that the ne1000 driver was on the lan.
y'gotta have a box to make boxes. y'gotta start in y'head. in order to
think out of the box, first have a box. then define the box. then think
out of the box and don't forget to think in the box too, do the one good
thing, don't leave the other undone.
if the box says it can't connect, it should be spinal to check the
connection, no matter what your experience with the boxes flaky drivers or
bad mainboard or dodgy nic or whatever you might reach for first, check the
obvious...
