Hi all,
Took the plunge and installed Declude and F-Prot. Had some problems,
but it turned out to be F-Prot problems. Here is what I learned from
the experience...
1) Might just as well download the DOS version of F-Prot (for free) as the
there are multiple issues with using the Windows version (license is
$40/yr).
2) Don't use the windows on-access scanner..it interferes with the on-demand (DOS)
scanner
then declude won't work correctly.
3) I'm still waiting for F-Prot to send me a registration code so I can
get the updates for my Windows F-Prot so that the virus definitions can
be updated (this applies to manual and automatic updates) I had to
download the FREE DOS version to get the updates definition files... and
uninstall the Windows scanner, as there is no way to just disable it
(and keep it from being loaded at startup) that I could find...I don't
like the windows version. I shoulda just left NAV on my server for that
kind of virus protection.
4) F-Prot tech support is totally non-existant. I sent them emails 2
days ago and have not heard from them yet....really pitiful, they didn't
seem to mind taking my $40 but can't answer any email.
5) Don't do any testing with Imail's web messaging. The emails are
delivered internally somehow, so Declude never gets a chance to
intercept them to be checked.
6) With Declude people helping me, this never would have gotten done.
The $495 I paid Declude is a great value considering the excellent tech
support I got getting F-Prot to work, the reporting setup, Declude
configured properly and tested, etc.
7) Thanks a bunch Scott, you can put me down as a reference any time, any
place. Your managers need to know you do a great job.
Summary: When you buy Declude, just ask scott to help you get it up
and running...
Thanks, andy b
