We have a customer we do the exact same thing for.  We installed the pop3 adapter for exchange (free from Microsoft) and set up a nobody alias on our Imail server.  The customers exchange server checks mail from our Imail server ever 1 minute over DSL connection.  They also use the SMTP server from exchange to send messages because they have some users that do not have public email yet need internal email for the company.  This allows us to run DNS for their mail server and web site which we host as well.  The only drawback is that we have to enter each email address for their domain in our accept.txt file on our Imail server.  This arrangement works flawless and we have had no problems at all with it.

We have done this with exchange server as well as sever other mail servers like VPOP.

Why do people not prefer to answer on the list?
Mark's question is clear to Walt as he admits there are "lots of correct answers".
Then even if Walt feels shy about helping on the list, he can mail directly to Mark.
Why does Mark have to specially contact Walt "off the list"?
Does Walt need his Credit Card no. or Soc sec no before offering the help?

There are lots of correct answers to this question.  Write me off list, I am an Exchange Administrator.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Imail and Exchange Server

Hi all,

Can anyone help me out as the IPSwitch support cannot be bothered to call me back.

We are running Imail and have a customer who wishes to use Exchange server on his network.

He will need to send and recieve his mail via our Imail server but I understand that Exchange uses SMTP to send and recieve while our set up (as standard) is SMTP to send POP3 to recieve.

What do we have to do our end to make it" connectable" to Exchange Server or can it be done? I can't find anyr eference on the support site.

Thank you if you can help or point me to a decent reference.
