It's not free(just nearly so). For commercial use it is $20 (for up to 20
PCs).

This has been discussed pretty extensively, but I don't know how well the
Declude docs cover it.

Dump FP-Win auto update and take a few minutes to write an FTP script to
schedule as part of your nightly maintenance(be sure to handle the .pif file).
No need to have an extra process running. The FP-Win update seems OK, but I
generally get updated faster with my script.

The FP-Win NT/2000 support is still new. I have a couple of machines using it
without problems, but I don't do on-access AV on my secure servers.

They will get there. The response is slow, but I have had several
"discussions" and the quality was good, if not the speed. Keep in mind the
time difference.

Remember Frisk is selling F-Prot for $1/PC (or less) for the DOS version and
$2/PC (or less) for the Win version. The $20/$40 figures commonly quoted
are for the minimum license of 20 PCs. At those prices something has to give
and "speedy" support is it.

For "full-service" support purchase through F-Secure or CommandAV(and pay the
price).

Norton and McAfee have faster support(questionable), but I have never had a
useful exchange without insisting an issue be escalated.

Frisk develops a very solid engine. I use three scan engines with Declude,
with F-Prot being the first in line. So far nothing has fallen through for
the others to catch. I am using F-Prot in several other batch processes as
well with good results.

This and TNEF support are the two holes in Declude I wish Scott would plug. I
wrote an iMail1.exe wrapper to take care of the web mail issues and a wedge
for TNEF support, but I'd rather have it "in the box."

Still, it's hard to gripe too much. Declude works as well or better than any
other AV product in this regard.

Agreed. Declude and Scott are great.
